About You : My mission in life is to transform the way people divorce from litigation to mediation. I litigated for 8 years before I walked away because I could no longer be part of a system that grinds people down to nothing and destroys their co-parenting relationship so that the lawyers can line their own pockets. I have never seen anything more disheartening than people who are supposed to be professionals, who are supposed to be watching out for their client's interest but instead are manipulating emotionally vulnerable people for their own gain. There is a terrible conflict of interest between divorce attorneys and their clients in California. Divorce attorney fees are the ONLY legal fees in our state that are protected by law by the equity in our client's case. The more the people fight, the more money the lawyer gets paid. When that pay is protected by the equity in their client's home, are they always going to try to fairly and quickly wrap it up or is there going to be a temptation to drag it out as long as possible? Peaceful divorce is an idea whose time has come. I have done over 200 mediations with 100% success rate for a low flat fee of $2,500. 85% of couples would be MUCH better off by NOT hiring their own lawyer and using a mediator who is a divorce lawyer. I know a lot of people will hate me when they read this. That is probably a good indication that you are one of the churners I am talking about. Good divorce attorneys who recognize what I am describing will agree with me.
